My client is looking for a Lead Process Safety Engineer with a minimum of 10 years exerience working in the Oil & Gas industry. You will plan and conduct independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Devises new approaches to solving problems.
Broad working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application and substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
Devises new approaches to technical problems.
Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects of relatively small size and complexity within the business line with minimal technical oversight.
Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects including constructability requirements and reviews.
Provides technical direction for specific tasks and assigns work to subordinate senior engineers, engineers, designers, drafters or project sub-groups.
Broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Candidate shall be expected to have previous FEED/EPC experience on Oil & Gas Processing / Refinery or Petrochemical projects as well as experience in managing a team of process safety engineers. Candidate shall be well versed in Inherently Safer Design, Hazard Identification (HAZID, HAZOP & SIL), Consequence Analysis, QRA and Safety Critical Equipment identification as well as performance standard development. Candidate shall also be experienced in the development of design philosophies for various safety critical systems as well as performing design activities associated with hazardous area classification, fire and gas detection, active fire protection, passive fire protection and escape and evacuation systems. An appreciation of RAM would also be expected.
Familiarity with US and European safety regulations and requirements especially NFPA, API, IP, IEC would be beneficial.
Position Skills
Chemical Engineering- Masters or Honours Degree
Process Safety and Loss Prevention - Masters (preferable)
Professional Engineer Status (Chartered Eng or equivalent)
